Paddy O’Neill

In 2022 Paddy O’Neill retired from Norfolk Southern where he served in Strategic Planning, Operations Plannings and Equipment Planning roles.  As Assistant Vice President Fleet Planning and Optimization he managed railcar distribution and served on several committees.  Following his retirement he climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro and upon his return opened Glynn Lane Consulting helping the Greenbrier Companies, railcar owners and shippers.

He graduated from Notre Dame in 1988 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and joined the US Navy as a construction manager.  While working in Italy, he met his future wife, the mother of their four angelic daughters, on the train between Naples and Rome forever associating in his mind trains with good fortune.  Following his military service, he completed an MBA in 1999 at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management eventually joining Norfolk Southern in 2001 therein deepening the romance of the rails.  He and his wife have enjoyed watching (and coaching) over 1,000 of their daughters’ basketball, flag football, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and volleyball games.
